Sewing project central.

Ok so I have been in project overdrive lately and even more so tonight. I had a chance to run to the craft store and pick up a few supplies to put together a few projects. While rambling lots of project ideas to my husband, he reminded me (of course while I was doing another project) "One project at a time".
Well my mind doesn't function on one thing at a time. Its in overdrive brainstorming how to make things work better and look better all the time.
So with this overdrive mind, I have been able to pull together some pretty great projects over the past few months. You may remember that I took a long break from blogging.

Well I finally got all the pictures ready to be shown as proof and to share what I had been busy doing.

I made a few bibs.

Learned how to make self-binding blankets.

Made a few burp cloths for the neighbor

A little hat, also for the neighbor, who has an owl nursery.

My favorite projects. Owl pillows to match two baby girl nurseries
that were born to our friends.

This last project is a special project and consumed a lot of time. I made these pillowcases for Conkerr Cancer  a project that collects pillowcases for children/teens in the hospital battling cancer. Once mine are donated, they will be given to the Sanford Children's Hospital in town. Isn't that so cool to bring a little brightness to a child who is facing such a big battle? I think its pretty awesome. Let me know if you want details for the contact person and you can help make some too!

Now you might understand why I have been super busy on top of being a new mom! :)

I put together a cute project tonight though so hopefully I can get it hung and debut it this weekend. Aren't you excited to see it?!? Its super cute, cheap and easy!

Check back soon!

Sewing mama.

I feel pretty good about myself today! I completed a few sewing projects that have been on my to-do list. Sewing is something that has only recently become a skill of mine and this was after many years of watching my mom sew LOTS of projects. Today I felt confident enough to take on a few projects myself!
  • I fixed the seam on one of my pants (no I did not break out of them haha I bought them defective but got a giant discount for them! Go me!
  • I hemmed curtains (this one impressed me--simple task and yet they could have went wrong)
  • I made a few burp cloths
  • I made a family of four set of nesting puppets. (Idea found here )

Pretty productive for a girl who napped all morning ;)

Whew!

What a weekend! This girl was lucky enough to have her mom visit this weekend. We were sewing up a storm -- whipping our spare "dropping grounds" bedroom into a baby nursery.

First big move: My parents bought us a crib and dresser. Very beautiful and I love it! Thanks Mom and Dad. We are pretty lucky to have parents who help us out :)

Then, the spare furniture was moved out of the room to clear it for crib building. I of course, supervised since I shouldn't lift anything which was hard.

Mitch surprised us with building the crib while my mom and I were out picking up a few fabric things. Yay! Good job daddy :)

My mom and I went to work and made a bunch of cute burp cloths, a blanket, and all the crib bedding (minus the quilt). It turned out super cute and even better that its all personalized since we designed it. Made with lots of love! Pretty lucky to have a talented mom :)

Our Nursery Theme: The Very Hungry Caterpillar (a childrens book by Eric Carle)
Here are the fabrics that we used:

Sorry for the picture tease but I want to do a big nursery reveal when its all complete. A few more pieces will need to be made and we need to hunt for some different fabric pieces.

P.S. Reality is slowly settling in more as we walk out of our bedroom and see a (very cute) baby crib! Crazy to think a baby will be in there a few months ahead. And what? March is almost at the end already? Nuts!

Our little boy is already pretty lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love him. He already is so anticipated and is it fun to slowly have things being bought/made for him!

We appreciate it all :)
Thanks mom for doing so much work this weekend! I love it all and it is so special! Mini Bee will love it :)
